Sunday nights are great. My uncle came round for sunday dinner then we started looking at some things on youtube. He showed me some clips of the “song and dance man” Andy Kaufman. An American entertainer/performance artist, he died of lung cancer in 1974, but many fans still believe its just another one of his staged pranks, that he will make a big comeback appearence one of these days. For his time, he was a crazy man, his comedy was way ahead of his time. He was also a self proclaimed “Inter-Gender Wrestling Champion of the World”, so basically he wrestled women. He was challenged ay professional wrestler Jerry Lawler so they stepped into the ring and..

Not such a Happy New Year…

Not a very cheerful post i’m afraid. I was excited about 2009, then things fell apart. I currently have no job, no partner and no social life, i just have my music at the moment so that what i want to concentrate on. College is such a bore as well, the same routine every week with more and more work piling up (although i shouldn’t complain, its the second year students i feel sorry for).

Listening to Radiohead probably isn’t helping my mood at the moment either.. its not the most cheerful music but i am totally addicted to their music and Thom’s beautiful voice. I’ve got to say people are wrongthe-bends when they say OK Computer is their best album, The Bends is without a doubt a collection of some of the best songs i know. Fake Plastic Trees, High and Dry and Just for example.

Anyway.. Oh yes tonight i was watching some youtube clips of a few scottish guys i discovered recently. It started when i got a Melodica for my birthday, so i wanted to see what kind of melodica clips i could find. So i typed in ‘Melodica’ and the first thing it came up with is this guy playing a ‘Tequila’ cover under the name of GUGUG, also featuring a Ukulele (my obsession at the moment).  So i fell in love with this clip and started checking out all these other clips, Gus and Fin then became top favourites on my Youtube account. I just wanted to share this clip with you:

This is just Gus on his own, check out all their other stuff, its so good.

I think this is what i’ll do. Go round the world gigging, collecting instruments, posting vids on Youtube. This is a link to an interview i found with him on a ukulele website:

There are interviews with Fin and Gus, if you read Gus’s ‘Long’ answer to his musical history, THATS exactly what i want to do =D

Right. Hopefully i will have better news on my next post.. or something more interesting. Cheerio for now.
